Skin Care FAQ

What is an enzyme peel?

Enzymes digest protein, which includes dead surface skin cells. They differ from chemical peels as they allow for exfoliation without sensitivity, redness, or peeling. You may have seen this offered as an add-on treatment to boost results; however, we incorporate them into all of our facial treatments and peels to ensure maximum results. Our enzymes are applied in multiple steps and blended just before use to ensure maximum activity while they are being used for treatments, not while they are sitting in the jar.

How long after a facial may I apply makeup?

We recommend forgoing makeup the day of your facial, especially if you are prone to breakouts or congestion. Facials allow for deep pore cleansing and exfoliation which leaves your skin clean, bright, and ready to absorb active ingredients. For best results leave our active ingredients  and SPF on and skip everything else.

How long must sun exposure be avoided for?

While we believe safe sun is always important for your skin, including the consistent use of sunscreen, we do understand that Florida offers much natural beauty to enjoy. Many of our facial services offer great results without photosensitivity. However, if you are interested in treatments such as chemical peels you must speak with your aesthetician to ensure your lifestyle and schedule allow for beneficial results.

May I receive a facial after Botox® or cosmetic fillers?

After receiving Botox® or fillers, you must wait at least ten days before any facial treatment, peel. However, you may schedule your facial treatment before.

How often should I receive a facial?

We recommend monthly facials to maintain your skin as this allows for exfoliation, hydration and balance after being exposed to daily environmental pollution and sun. Monthly deep pore cleansing is especially important for those with acneic skin. We may suggest additional treatments when we first begin working with you to help you best achieve your goals.

Should I bring my current skin care products?

Yes, absolutely. If it's your first time seeing us for skin care services, we highly recommend you bring your current routine with you. Home care is crucial to you achieving your goals and maintaining your skin. Aside from making sure our treatment takes your routine into consideration, using incorrect products is not only a lost opportunity to help, but may be detrimental. Allow us to review your routine with you for the best possible results.

Waxing FAQ

How do I prepare for waxing before my first visit?

The most important factor is hair length. In order for optimal removal and for wax to adhere properly, we recommend about 1/4 inch or about 2-3 weeks of growth.

How long after waxing should sun exposure be avoided?

A minimum of 24 hours is always recommended. If your skin is especially fair or sensitive, we  recommend 48 hours. This time frame is also true for swimming, taking a bath (showering is fine), and intimacy in the case of bikini and Brazilian waxing.

What are some instances where waxing should be avoided?

If you are using Retin-A, Differin, Accutane or other especially aggressive skin care. This is due to potential lifting of the skin--where both live and dead cells are removed--leading to an abrasion. Waxing should also be avoided for two weeks prior to finishing an antibiotic or steroids. Please consult your physician if you are uncertain whether waxing is contraindicated for you due to other medications or health circumstances.

Do you offer men's waxing services?

Yes, we offer men's waxing from the waist up. Should we locate a place specializing in men's intimate waxing that we are confident in recommending, we will provide their information here.

What if I have a special occasion?

We do not believe that waxing should be performed for the first time immediately before special events including weddings, vacations and anniversaries. Please contact your aesthetician well in advance so we will have the opportunity to see you for your treatment multiple times and determine how your skin is likely to react.

How may I minimize discomfort?

While waxing regularly minimizes discomfort, if your physician recommends it you may take Advil or Tylenol beforehand. We also have topical numbing agents available in our spa boutique; however, these must be purchased in advance of your appointment and applied 20 minutes prior to your scheduled treatment time for best results.

Brazilian/Bikini Waxing FAQ

image444

May I receive waxing during my period?

Yes, many women choose to keep their wax appointment during their period. While you may be more sensitive, this is often preferred rather than disrupting your wax schedule. Our only requirement is that you must wear a tampon.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Loose, comfortable clothing is best. We recommend 100% cotton, full coverage underwear.

Can pregnant women receive Brazilian waxing?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our long-time guests have continued or began their waxing routine with us during pregnancy. We modify waxing positions as needed. We do request you consult your physician beforehand and provide a note of their consent.
